Merchant (lv1-70) | Ragnarok Origin (2024)

Written by Mumei #4529 from ROO Discord Tavern

Merchants are adventurers who are officially affiliated with the Merchant Guild. They learn how to earn an income out of buying, selling, and dealing with items in general, and in some cases can use the power of coins or the items they carry as an asset in battle. In this guide, we will look into:

  • Possible builds for Merchant

  • Skill Distribution

  • Stat Distribution

  • Recommended Equipment

  • Job Progression

  • Leveling Spots

  • Tips and Tricks

Recommend Builds:

  1. Mammonite Merchant - Mammonite deals with Massive PDMG to single targets. Abuse the skill until you reach Base Lv.31, since it does not cost anything before Lv.31.

  1. Auto Attack Merchant - This build focuses on sheer ASPD and deals continuous damage. You can also use this build to trigger auto cast cards when normal attacking. Using Golden Mace, on the other hand, grants additional damage per 3 hits. In addition, you can use concentration potions to increase your ASPD.

  1. Cart Revolution Merchant - This build focuses on the AOE damage from the Cart Revolution skill. This is an efficient build when grinding monsters that cluster in groups. Max out the weight limit of your cart by stocking steel that you can purchase from the Tool Shop.

  1. Full Force Swipe Merchant - This build focuses on the AOE damage and the ignore DEF effect from Full Force Swipe.

Skill Distribution

> Depending on what build you follow, max out either Mammonite, Cart Revolution or Full Force Swipe. Then allocate the rest of the points to any skill that you need.

Mammonite deals a lot of damage but consumes Edden Coins per cast. This can be used early game for free though.

Full Force swipe deals great , and can ignore a portion of the target's PDEF.

Cart Revolution deals damage based on the cart's weight.

> Cart Clash inflicts a slow status effect on the target.

> Enlarge weight and modification add more damage to Cart Skills.

> Discounts and Overcharges are for buying and selling to NPC.

Stats Distribution

For Mammonite build - Max out STR for more damage. No need to add AGI early game. As for HIT, you can rely on your equipment.

For Auto Attack Merchant - Put points to both STR and AGI with a 2:1 ratio. This increases both the base DMG and ASPD.

For Cart Revolution Merchant - Same with the Mammonite build, max out STR for more damage. No need to add AGI early. As for HIT, you can rely on your equipment.

For Full Force Swipe Merchant - Same with the Mammonite build, max out STR for more damage. No need to add AGI early. As for HIT, you can rely on your equipment.

Recommended Equipment

1. Mammonite Merchant:

Weapon: Great Ax

Armor: Combat Uniforms

Garment: Ancient Cloak

Shoes: Tidal Shoes or Soft Leather Boots

Accessories: Silver Ring

Cards: Picky, Ninetails, Andre, (Racial, Element, Size) Cards

Note: Since this is a skill-type build, we should use equipment either adds STR which increases Base ATK, or increases skill DMG.

2. Auto Attack Merchant:

Weapon: Golden Hammer

Armor: Thief Clothes

Garment: Morrigane's Cloak

Shoes: Morrigane's Boots

Accessories: Silver Ring

Cards: Picky, Ninetails, Andre, (Racial, Element, Size) Cards

Note: You will be using continuous auto attacks, so equipment that either adds STR or AGI will be good for this build.

3. Cart Revolution Merchant

Weapon: Doom Slayer

Armor: Combat Uniform

Garment: Wool Scarf or Ancient Cloak

Shoes: Tidal Shoes or Soft Leather Boots

Accessories: Silver Ring

Cards: Picky, Ninetails, Andre, (Racial, Element, Size) Cards

Note: Since this is a skill-type build, we should use equipment either adds STR which increases Base ATK, or increases skill DMG.

4. Full-Force Swipe Swipe Merchant

Weapon: Doom Slayer

Armor: Combat Uniform

Garment: Wool Scarf or Ancient Cloak

Shoes: Tidal Shoes or Soft Leather Boots

Accessories: Silver Ring

Cards: Picky, Ninetails, Andre, (Racial, Element, Size) Cards

Note: Since this is a skill-type build, we should use equipment either adds STR which increases Base ATK, or increases skill DMG.

Job Progression

After graduating from the Novice Academy, you will begin your journey by traveling to Alberta, the port city of Rune-Midgard Kingdom, to receive your Job Change quest from the Merchant Guild.

The first quest is to retrieve the goods from the storage to where you need to defeat Thief Bugs.

And as for the final trial, you need to defend the goods from outlaws who are trying to steal them.

Congratulations! You are now a Merchant.

You will be given an Ax and a quest to claim your cart.

1. Once you change your job to Merchant, focus on completing the Twilight Lotus quest.

2. You will be Base Lv.15 and will be able to unlock the daily commission quest. Do not spend your daily tickets yet, instead hunt monsters outside the town first. Until you reach Base Lv.17 where you can complete the Traces of Baphomet.

3. Once done, hunt some Rockers and Thief Bugs until you reach Base Lv.22.

4. Continue the main quest Spirit Pieces.

5. Complete the rest of your battle time grinding in the following leveling spots.

Leveling Spots:

Prontera West Gate - For Base Lv.10 to 20. Target Rockers and Thief Bugs for cards.

Northern Geffen - For Base Lv.20 and above. Target Mandragora for Card.

Byalan Island - For Base Lv.40 and above. Target Vadon for Card. Special Tips:

Pros and Cons of playing as a Merchant:

  • Merchant starts slow, because their damage is really low in the early game. But with patience and dedication, with proper cores, cards, and cores, the Merchant class can deal massive damage mid to late game.

  • Merchants spend Edden Coins every now and then. So you need to take advantage of their passive skills to gain more profit by selling items and converters.

  • Merchants have the best buffs in-game, which really help allies in both PVE and PVP.

Tips and Tricks: Don't forget to buy Iron in the Tool Shop every day. You can only buy 40 pieces each day and iron is needed when you are crafting weapon converters when you change your class to Blacksmith. Put 4 pieces of Heavy Block of Iron on your Cart to reach the Max weight limit. You can buy this in the Tool Shop. Use Mammonite from Lv.10 until you reach Base Lv.31. This skill has the highest DMG that can help you while grinding.

Always check World Chat and Guild Chat for weapon converter requests before you start crafting.
