This instant banana dosa is quick, simple, mildly sweet, and ready in less than 10 minutes. This breakfast recipe is a boon in the busy, unplanned morning hours.

The texture and the taste of this Indian banana pancake are yummy, and no one would say that it has been prepared in a few minutes.

This banana dosa was my breakfast food for most of my college days. It started earlier in the morning than the rest of my family.

So, my mom makes these for my breakfast, as it is straightforward to make with very few ingredients. Sometimes, I also urge her to pack the same thing for lunch. It stays good after hours and is easier without messing the fingers.

You may also make another super instant snacking recipe, Banana Bonda, using the same ingredients.

If you want a healthier fibrous version of this dosa by substituting maida(all-purpose flour) with whole wheat flour, you may try this similar banana dosa/crepe made withwhole wheat oats.

The kids will love banana dosa for the sweet taste and the banana flavor. If the kids struggle to eat fruits, infuse them into their favorite dish.

How to Make Banana Dosa:

Sieve maida if necessary. Add maida / all-purpose flour, sugar, banana, and salt to a bowl.

Mash the banana until it turns mushy. Hint: It's okay if there are small chunks of banana; these small chunks add more texture to the dosa.

Add about a quarter cup of water until it forms a paste. The batter should not be either thicker or too thin. It has to be in a thick, flowing consistency.

Drizzle a few drops of oil, and pour a ladle of batter over the hot pan. Again, drizzle a teaspoon of cooking oil around the dosa. In medium heat, cook it for about 2 minutes.

Flip it and cook again for another 1-2 minutes until they get cooked thoroughly. Once done, remove it from the tawa, transfer it to the plate, and serve banana dosa immediately.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana ripen
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour /maida
  • ¼ cup sugar or as required
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ¼ cup water
  • 4 teaspoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Mash banana until it turns mushy.

  • Add all-purpose flour, sugar, mashed banana, and saltto a bowl.

  • Add about quarter cup of water little by little until it forms paste. The batter should not be either thicker or too thin. It has to be in the thick flowing consistency.

  • Drizzle few drops of oil, and pour a ladle full of batter over the hot pan. Again drizzle a teaspoon of cooking oil around the dosa. In medium heat cook it for about 2 minutes. Flip it and cook again for another 1-2 minutes until they get cooked completely. Once done, remove it from tawa and transfer it to plate and serve banana dosa immediately.
